Apples & pears

Our range of apples caters for all tastes, from the sweet red Royal Gala to the tangy Granny Smith. The perfect ‘crunch’ factor is one feature shared by all varieties of our apples. Our technical team work tirelessly testing the pressure and flavour profile of our apples to ensure our customers can trust Pauleys for apples that not only taste fantastic but also deliver a great ‘crunch’.

About our British Bramley apples

The British climate is perfect for Bramley growing as the trees dislike extremes of temperature. April sees the delicately coloured blossom blooming on the trees. The apples develop over the summer and are picked during late August. Our Bramley grower’s trees are maintained at low level, enabling the apples to be carefully picked by hand. Red Tractor accredited and British all year, the Bramley apple is a perfect choice for creating traditional favourites such as crumbles and pies. We supply our Bramley apples in punnets, to ensure they reach our customers in perfect condition.

Tip: Brush apples with lemon juice after slicing to prevent browning.

Bramley apples

Recognised as the best apple for cooking, Bramley apples are unique because they contain a higher acid content and lower sugar levels to produce a stronger, tangier tasting apple whose flavour is retained when cooked, and whose texture literally melts in the mouth.

Chef's Suggestions:

  • Crumbles, pies, sponges, or simply baked with sugar and spice. Just add proper custard!
  • Besides all the sweet spicy fillings that go so well, try sugared dates, walnuts and a chunk of strong blue cheese stuffed right through the core.
